Top 100 LinkedIn Construction Followers - January 2023

February 03, 20232 min read

I recently conducted an experiment to analyze my top 100 construction followers on LinkedIn. I compiled a list of their names and the construction businesses they own, adding the company that best represented them in case they owned several. A few exceptions were made for those who didn't own a company but had significant influence in the industry.

Insights:

  • Larger Collective Following Than The Rest: The results showed that my top 100 followers have a larger collective following compared to the rest of my 1,500+ followers, with a minimum of 1,500 followers required to make the list.

  • Broad Scope of Work: I found it challenging to categorize each construction company due to the broad scope of their work. The use of terms such as "specialized" and "focus" in their LinkedIn profiles and websites appeared to be a marketing tactic. I observed that the majority of companies were generalists rather than specialists.

  • # of LinkedIn Followers Does Not Necessarily Reflect Influence: I also discovered that the number of LinkedIn followers does not necessarily reflect influence, as some people may have more influence on other platforms despite having fewer followers on LinkedIn.

In the coming month, I plan to track the growth of followers to see who is leveraging the platform to increase their influence. I will keep those on the January list even if they drop off from the top 100 to monitor their follower growth and add new connections as my LinkedIn network expands.

Note: This list does not endorse the individuals or the quality of work performed by them or their teams.
